Turn any rubric into a clean, editable one

Most rubrics live as PDFs from a course shell, Word tables from a colleague, or screenshots from an LMS. Re-typing them wastes an evening. Upload the rubric you already have and get back a structured, editable version you can fix, reuse, and export.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Upload or paste

Drop in a PDF, Word document, HTML file, or screenshot, or paste the rubric text. Scanned files work too.

  2. Step 2

    Edit the rubric

Criteria, performance levels, and points come back as an editable grid. Fix anything, reorder criteria, adjust points, decimals included.

  3. Step 3

    Export and reuse

Download as Word or Excel, print to PDF, or save it to a free workspace so it's there next term.

Why instructors use it

  • Handles messy real-world formats, including screenshots and scanned PDFs
  • A free account keeps your rubrics in one workspace, ready to reuse
  • The same rubric can later drive AI-assisted grading in MyTA, no re-entry

Common questions

What file formats does the rubric converter accept?

PDF, Word (.docx), HTML, and images (PNG, JPG, WebP), up to 20MB. You can also paste the rubric as plain text.

Is the rubric converter really free?

Yes. You can convert and edit without an account. A free account adds saving and exporting, with 10 conversions per month.

What happens to the files I upload?

They are read once to extract the rubric, then discarded. Nothing you upload is stored or used to train models.

Can I export the rubric to my LMS?

You can export to Word, Excel, and PDF today. LMS-specific import formats are on the roadmap.

The tools are the free part. MyTA is the rest.

MyTA lives inside your LMS and handles the operational work around these documents: grading against your rubric, drafting replies, tracking engagement, keeping your course compliant.
